Baaaa...

Interesting Survivalblog post on Icelandic sheep. The North American breeders' association page is here.

They look to be a breed with lots of potential for those of us living in cold climates; it's a hardy, medium-sized breed, that produces meat, wool, and milk.

I love Lopi wool (the wool from Icelandic sheep). I love all the natural shades of grey, beige, brown, and white. The commercial Lopi black is dyed! I used to sell crocheted Lopi hats, scarves, sweaters, wall hangings, etc.

I don't find it quite soft enough for me to wear next to my skin. But, it is soft enough that I don't get bumps on my fingers from crocheting it.

I've eaten Icelandic lamb and it was yummy.
My WOSM knitted me a Jayne Hat with Lopi wool. Am going to wear it deer hunting this year.
Is it in "Jayne hat" colours or the natural browns and greys? Must be a nice warm hat that even keeps ears warm.
Wow!

But it would have been softer in undyed Lopi ;)
